PIANO LESSONS IN MISSISSAUGA
About Our Piano Lessons
We offer piano lessons to kids and adults, from beginners to advanced.
Lessons are one-one-one, and take place weekly for 45 minutes.
We specialize in classical and pop music. You or your child can choose what to focus on (or to do both).
Of course, we teach all the fundamentals of music (note reading, rhythm, theory, etc.), but always with the purpose of bringing you closer to your musical goals.
What makes our lessons different?
At Silver Maple, we teach with the following approach:
Every single person has a musical strength.
Here are some examples of musical strength: reading sheet music easily; playing naturally with expression; picking out a tune by ear; a strong sense of rhythm; quick memorization; and proficient technique.
Everyone who starts learning an instrument will have a head start in one of these areas… and this is as true for a 5-year-old as it is for a 50-year-old.
But the only way for someone to find out their musical strength is to sit in front of the piano and play.
A compassionate and patient teacher will help draw out their latent musical talent.
Here at Silver Maple, we want to help every new student find their musical strength... together!
We offer a free trial lesson so you can get an idea of how lessons work before signing up.
Our Teaching Philosophy
1) Every student has a unique musical strength
As mentioned above, every new pianist (whether a child or adult) has a musical skill that comes easily to them, and is a key to helping build up their musical abilities overall.
2) Every musical problem is surmountable
Whether a tricky group of notes, complex rhythm, or expressive issue, every musical conundrum can be broken down and resolved — and you’ll have help every step of the way.
3) Playing piano should be fun and relaxing
Let’s make it a joyful activity, not a stressful or boring task. What a gift to be able to play music! Practice is not a chore, it’s an opportunity for discovery.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have David as my sons’ piano teacher over the past few years. He is kind, calm, and fun, and is very good at tailoring his teaching approach to meet his students’ needs.”
— Marianne K.
